Insurance Company

Migration to Oracle Cloud Powers European Expansion

Scalable, Cost-Effective Insurance Management Platform

Situation

The client, a publicly listed insurance company based in the Middle East, sought to expand into the European market by offering its insurance management product to European customers.

However, a key customer opportunity came with a critical requirement: the product had to be hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) due to Oracle Cloud dependencies and regulatory preferences.

Meeting this requirement was no simple task. Transitioning to OCI required extensive resizing, rehosting, and re-architecting of the environment to ensure seamless integration with OCI’s Database as a Service (DBaaS).

Impact

Had the client not made the insurance product compatible with OCI:

  • They would have missed a lucrative opportunity to expand into the European market
  • They would have forfeited the chance to enhance the product’s scalability and cost-efficiency by leveraging OCI’s native offerings, such as Oracle Database as a Service (DBaaS)

Resolution

Our team collaborated closely with the client to execute a phased, efficient migration plan:

  • Resizing and Rehosting: Resized and rehosted the Azure-based insurance management product on OCI, optimizing it for the platform’s architecture
  • Database Modernization: Migrated the on-premises Oracle database to OCI’s DBaaS, reducing operational overhead and enabling auto-scaling for variable workloads
  • Optimization and Testing: Conducted rigorous testing and fine-tuning to ensure performance parity, security compliance, and seamless integration with the customer’s Oracle-dependent ecosystem
  • Cost Optimization: Leveraged OCI’s flexible pricing and scaling features to significantly reduce infrastructure costs

Outcomes

For a large insurance company, we migrated its insurance management product to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, enabling the client to:

  • Expand operations into the European market
  • Reduce database operational costs by 30%, saving $120,000 annually
  • Accelerate deployment timelines by 40%
  • Enhance database query performance by 25%, supporting real-time analytics and reporting
  • Enable seamless scaling during peak periods, minimizing downtime and improving user satisfaction
  • Automate database maintenance, cutting manual intervention by 60% and freeing resources for strategic initiatives
